THE BUSINESS NEED:
With an increasing emphasis on digital accessibility in the digital space, it became increasingly important that teams at Havas were well educated on WCAG standards and were able to make informed considerations around digital accessibility within project teams.
Recognizing digital accessibility as a key offering, I established and led the Digital Accessibility Community of Practice, aimed at opening up conversations around digital accessibility, providing insights and educating Havas team members on accessibility.
My 101 decks were customized to different audiences including Accounts and Project Managers, and Design teams. Popular sessions provided updates on pivotal topics including the publication of WCAG 2.2, media and video accessibility, digital accessibility industry news, and featured guest speakers.
I presented at the Diversity & Inclusion Summit, a Havas North America-wide event which created interest and led to follow up speaking invitations from other Havas offices, and consulted on the creation of an accessibility team in the Havas Life office.
With the Accessibility Community of Practice teams channel and accompanying SharePoint website, I created a collaborative, inclusive space where Havas members could have open conversations about any accessibility challenges or issues on projects, creating a consolidated approach, enhancing project outcomes. I have also consulted on digital accessibility on project teams, highlighting options for improvements and recommending accessibility updates. I also wrote whitepapers and social media posts to establish Havas as a thought leader in the digital accessibility space.
